First Steps

FIRST STEP: Complete the Entry Course certification. (see "Certification and Training" under "Referees" this website to learn how to sign up for the Entry Course).

SECOND STEP:  You must contact a league and let them know of your interest to work for them.  Here's what you should do if interested in working with the PTC Lazers:
Contact the Assignor (Matthew Pearce, email: [email protected]) and provide your email and phone contact information.

THIRD STEP:  Familiarize yourself with the PTC Lazers website “Referee” section which is chocked full of information. Email is very important as this is our primary means of communication, so check email routinely.  And anticipate a "Weekly Recap" email from the Director after each weekend.

FOURTH STEP:   Purchase your uniform and gear.  T&G Sports and Good Sports each offers a 10% discount if you tell them you are with the PTC Lazers.  An online option is www.officialsports.com but there are many more.  Each option carries a Referee Starter Kit.  You will need mostly black shoes (no bright or flashy colors anywhere on the shoe), uniform socks, (2 or 3 stripes - see the Official Sports site) shorts and jersey.  Buy the Gold (yellow) jersey first as that is what you'll use predominantly in your first season. Don't forget flags, cards, and a whistle.  You will want to buy more shirts over time, generally short-sleeved shirts.  Please buy shirts in this order: Gold, Blue, Green, Red, Black.  Working for PTC you may be assigned to AFC Lightning games and the primary club colors are red and gold so your second jersey should be purchased as soon as possible and as mentioned should be blue.

FIFTH STEP:  Setup www.GameOfficials.net to connect with our league.  This is very important to submit your availability each week, to received game assignments, and to receive your paycheck.  The league makes payments twice a month. See the section “Assignments & GoPay” for specific steps to complete.

Our Group/Assignor Number is 1245 and our Group Access Code is ptclazers.

Click on  MY preferences on the left  enter game/team conflicts...add what team/league you or family members play or coach for.  If none put none.
Click on Misc/preferences...add information in location...schedule...team.

Click availability and put in availability as much as you can. Block out times and days you cant do games.
Recommended to use the same UserID and Passwords for GameOfficials as was used on GAReferees.com.

.

Your availability for assignments is due no later than every Sunday, 6 days prior to the weekend.  Keep it updated as your schedule changes.  Always show "not available" if your schedule is uncertain. This step may be a bit intimidating on your first look, but step through it.  You’ll soon be clicking through this as easily as on your smart phone.

SIXTH STEP:  Attend our In-Service Training.  Training always occurs just ahead of the season with an occasional session mid-season.  You'll be alerted to training in the Weekly Recap emails and posted dates on the website.

Please do not hesitate to email Matthew Pearce with any questions.

Welcome again to the Lazers league.  I hope you really, really enjoy refereeing.
